Accommodation
Les Hirondelles is a traditional Charentaise home that dates back over 200 years. It has been in our family for over 50 years and has been renovated over time utilising the space whilst retaining original features and charm.
On the ground floor you’ll find the kitchen, a converted barn, which is a large and airy space designed in a typical Charentais farmhouse style. It has high ceilings with a dresser and kitchen table which can seat 6-8, and large windows that open onto the pool area. The kitchen is fully equipped with a large Smeg dual range oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, kettle and toaster.
The sitting room, with a comfy sofa bed and separate sofa and armchair, is next to the kitchen with a separate entrance from the terrace outside. It has aircon for the warmer summer days and a log burner for the cooler evenings. With newly installed WIFI there is also a desk with space to work if needed and a Smart TV which has access to freeview English speaking channels. (Logs for the wood burner can be made available at an additional charge).
The sitting room leads onto the dining room, a peaceful cool space to enjoy reading through our extensive collection of books or doing one of our many puzzles or board games.
On the ground floor there is also a downstairs loo which serves as the laundry area with the washing machine conveniently located there.
Bedrooms
Upstairs there are 3 spacious comfortable double bedrooms, all with traditional French shutters to ensure a great night’s sleep.
The large family bathroom is located upstairs with a bath, large walk-in shower, loo and hand basin. Also located in the bathroom is the tumble dryer.
The Pink Room
The large master bedroom is equipped with a king sized bed and a hand basin with beautiful views over the vineyards.
The Blue Room
Opposite, is a large twin room with 2 single beds which can be pushed together to form a large double.
The Yellow Room
The yellow room is another twin bedroom, suitable for children, equipped with 2 single beds.
Additional Information
We have a foldaway bed, a folding chair bed and an inflatable mattress which can accommodate additional guests in any of the bedrooms, in advance and at an additional cost.
All bed linen and towels are provided. Towels for the pool are optional, upon request, at a rate of €10 per person.
We have plenty of things for little ones of all ages. For babies we have playmats, a bouncer and plenty of toys. A cot and high chair are also available on request in advance.
Regrettably, due to the nature of the old house and different levels, there is no wheelchair access and the villa is not suited to those with mobility issues.
Arrivals are from 4pm and checkouts before 10am.
